Software engineer in McLean, Virginia

I build systems that make complex work feel simple.

I’m Todd Huang, a Senior Associate Software Engineer at Capital One. I design distributed data platforms and applied AI products that turn high-stakes, manual processes into reliable software.

Reusable data quality infrastructure

Built an event-driven AWS platform that detects anomalous datasets before publication. The system automates recurring and ad hoc validation jobs, manages centralized scheduling and tracking, and publishes trusted data to downstream teams.

Kinetik Simulation · Full-stack & data

Go-to-market simulation platform

Led four developers building a Salesforce pipeline simulation product with Monte Carlo forecasting and AI-assisted recommendations. Delivered the React experience and AWS data architecture, including real-time query workflows and large-scale content classification.

How I work

Systems thinking, grounded in the people using the system.

I’m drawn to hard problems with real operational consequences: messy data, brittle workflows, and decisions that still depend on too much manual effort.

My approach is to understand the full path—from user need to production behavior—then make each layer observable, resilient, and easy to evolve. I’m comfortable moving between system architecture, backend services, data pipelines, and the interface where the work becomes useful.

Outside of engineering, I enjoy cooking and long road trips—the same mix of preparation, improvisation, and curiosity that keeps me energized at work.

Beyond the keyboard

Curiosity doesn’t stop when the laptop closes.

I grew up moving between China and the United States, an experience that taught me to adapt quickly, stay curious, and feel at home in unfamiliar places.

That spirit carries into the rest of my life. I love cooking for friends and exploring the country by road—taking the slower route, finding unexpected stops, and learning a place through the people and food along the way.
